Student wellbeing

Student Wellbeing is of key importance at Randwick Public School, with several programs in place to support students’ social and emotional learning.

School Behaviour Support and Managment Plan

Randwick Public School is dedicated to explicitly teaching and modelling positive behaviour, supporting all students to be engaged with their learning. The School Behaviour Support and Management Plan (SBSMP) includes weekly Positive Behaviour for Learning lessons, digital citizenship lessons, resilience programs, wellbeing programs, social skills programs, and anti-bullying workshops. The plan promotes positive behaviour and social-emotional learning through prevention, early intervention, and targeted individual interventions. The plan has been developed in line with the Student Behaviour Policy, Behaviour Code for Students, and the School Community Charter, and is available on the school website for parents, carers, and the school community.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

At our school, PBL is a consistent, school-wide system of support that helps define, teach and support appropriate student behaviours to create a positive, safe and supportive environment. Our whole school community works together to establish expected behaviours and teach them to all students.

PBL is an approach for schools that is supported state-wide by the NSW Department of Education and is underpinned by the Wellbeing Framework for Schools.

Grow Your Mind

A curriculum-aligned, wellbeing program is based on four key pillars of research – positive psychology, public health, social and emotional learning + neuroscience. The program provides a common language extending beyond wellbeing, builds confidence and supports academic learning..

Peer Support

In Term 3, all students participate in the Peer Support program. This program provides students with values-based education through participation in small-group activities facilitated by Year 6 leaders. Each Peer Support group is made up of 10-12 students of all ages, helping to build student friendship networks across the school and providing an opportunity for student leadership. The focus of Peer Support varies from year to year, with students benefiting from learning about resilience, honesty and making friends.

Digital Citizenship

To promote safe and responsible use of technology, all K-6 students participate in Digital Citizenship education throughout the year. These lessons see students take on real challenges and digital dilemmas, giving them the skills needed to success as digital learners and citizens. Learning in digital citizenship includes lessons in privacy and security, relationships and communication, and information literacy.
