Randwick Public School acknowledges the Gadigal and Bidjigal People who are the traditional custodians of the land upon which our school stands. We would also like to pay respect to the Elders, both past and present, of the Eora Nation and extend that respect to all other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of this land. We humbly ask that all members of the Randwick School community are granted with the capacity to wingara – to think, to learn and to walk safely upon this land.
Randwick Public School provides numerous opportunities for all students to deepen their knowledge and understandings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. It is embedded throughout all Stage programs and delivered to students via authentic and engaging learning experiences.
Randwick Public students, staff and school community respectfully acknowledge and celebrate significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander events such as Sorry Day, Reconciliation and NAIDOC week. Students learn about both Australia’s pre and post-colonial histories through participating in, for example, cultural excursions to national parks as well as visiting art galleries and museums.
Randwick Public School works in partnership with Indigenous families to ensure all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students succeed and develop a strong sense of identity and belonging. We celebrate the outstanding achievements of Indigenous students through nominations for the Deadly Kids Awards and submission of student artworks to the Koori Art Expressions exhibition held annually.
