The Music Partnership

At Randwick Public School, our band and string programs are designed to nurture students’ musical abilities and foster a lifelong love of music. These programs give children the chance to learn an instrument, enjoy the excitement of performing, and develop important teamwork skills in a supportive environment.

Who Can Join?

All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are welcome to join the string program, while the band program is open to students from Year 3 onwards. No prior experience is needed — students don’t need to know how to read music or play an instrument to get started. What’s most important is their commitment to learning, which includes attending weekly rehearsals and tutorials as well as practising at home.

Performances and Opportunities

Our ensembles regularly showcase their talents at both school and community events. Each year, students look forward to highlights such as performing at the Festival of Instrumental Music at the Sydney Opera House, participating in the NSW Band Festival, and joining in the Daceyville Big Band Bash.

Ensembles at Randwick PS

By 2026, more than 150 students will be part of our vibrant music community across five ensembles. These range from beginner groups through to advanced performance ensembles, ensuring every student has a place to grow:

• Training String Ensemble (beginners)
• Intermediate String Ensemble (1+ years of experience)
• Senior String Ensemble (2+ years of experience)
• Training Band (beginners)
• Senior Performance Band (1+ years of experience)

Private and Small Group Lessons

Alongside the ensemble programs, students can take part in private or small group lessons held at school during the week. Lessons are available in woodwind, brass, percussion, strings and guitar, allowing students to extend their skills and receive individual guidance.

Randwick PS is proud to partner with The Music Partnership, who provide experienced and highly qualified instrumental tutors to support our students. Together, we ensure that every child has access to quality music education, whether they are beginners or advanced performers.
